Uber is launching a service for Indian users to book a ride via WhatsApp

New DelHI: In an effort to ease the cab booking process, Uber is launching a new service that will allow Indian users to book a ride via WhatsApp. The ride-book giant has launched the same WhatsApp Chatbot, according to an IANS report. The feature will first be launched in Lucknow and then in New Delhi.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for all Indians to take a Uber trip. We are very excited about Uber's first global integration, and look forward to its distribution throughout India, ”Nandini Maheshwari, Managing Director, Business Development, Uber APAC was quoted as saying in the report. Chatbot will be operational throughout India next year.

How to Use WhatsApp Chatbot for Uber

Users can book trips in three ways: Scanning the QR code, Clicking the Direct Link and Messaging Uber's Business account number.

The user will then be asked to enter a download location and destination.

The message will then show the fare and the expected time of the driver's arrival.

User will be notified of caller name and caller number.

The user will be able to track the driver and talk to him anonymously.

Safety and insurance features will remain the same for Whatsapp Chatbot users as users of the Uber App.

The 'emergency' button can be clicked by the user, during the trip. A customer support representative will call the user when pressing an emergency button.

For drivers, however, there will be no change in the old system.

The service can be accessed by older and younger users alike.

Currently, the center is available in English only. But, according to the report, it will soon be extended to other Indian languages.
