New DelHI: The Indian Government (GoI) has advised its people not to sign up for Starlink Internet Services, part of Elon Musk's SpaceX aerospace company, Reuters reports. The institute issued the advice as the company does not have a operating license in the country.
A government statement released late Friday said Starlink had been told it was compliant with the rules and refused to "book / offer online satellite internet services in India immediately". Starlink registered its business in India on November 1 earlier this year. It has started advertising, and according to the government, has started selling its work.
When Reuters asked Starlink about the matter, he replied: "There are no comments yet". A growing number of companies are launching small satellites as part of a low-Earth network around the world to provide low-cost broadband internet services worldwide, with a particular focus on remote areas the internet infrastructure strives to reach.
