iPhone version without a SIM card slot starting in September 2022,

Apple is preparing to introduce its new iPhone version without a SIM card slot starting in September 2022, according to a report. The iPhone models mentioned will only include eSIM support for mobile network communication. A change could happen with the iPhone 14 family next year. Apple has been providing eSIM support for its iPhone models since the launch of the iPhone XS in September 2018. However, all iPhone models at the moment have a Nano-SIM card slot next to the eSIM support.

Citing an official document that has been shared with an anonymous tipster, MacRumors reports that Apple recommended major American operators to configure eSIM smartphones only in September. Some carriers are reportedly starting to offer selected iPhone 13 models without a Nano-SIM card in the box in the second half of 2022 as part of the revolution. This will allow users to start accessing their main network using eSIM.

It is important to note that unlike previous models, the iPhone 13 series supports multiple eSIM profiles that enable dual SIM support using eSIM. This means that users can access two different networks on the latest iPhone models without using their Nano-SIM cards. It could be a start as Apple is expected to switch to a full-featured eSIM model next year. .

Named Tickster Dylan on Twitter also posted on Twitter to confirm the news that Apple plans to remove visible SIM card support from its iPhone models.

By replacing the Nano-SIM card space, Apple may be able to offer better water resistance and improved design for future iPhone models. It will also give the manufacturer space to add other parts instead of the SIM card slot.

In India, three major independent telecom operators - Airtel, Vi, and Jio - support eSIM connectivity. Therefore, Indian telcos will not need to take further efforts to comply with Apple's reported decision to discard Nano-SIM card slots in the future.
